The National Weather Service has extended the Wind Advisory for the summit of Haleakala until 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010.  A wind advisory means that winds are expected to be in the 30 mph range.  The NWS expects east winds of 25 to 35 KT with higher gusts to continue through Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the summit of Haleakala on Maui until 6 o’clock tonight. Winds are expected to be from the east at 25 to 35 KT with higher gusts.


Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.  Motorists are advised to use caution.  The public in the area is also advised to secure any loose objects that may become airborne or move them indoors.
