Two teens suffered critical injuries in a single car crash in Waikapu early this morning. The accident was reported at about 1 a.m. Saturday, May 08, 2010 near mile marker 3 of the Honoapiilani Highway.

According to police reports, all three occupants of the car were ejected when the driver of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line and overturned after colliding with a ditch. The vehicle was headed south on the highway when the accident occurred. None were wearing seatbelts.

The vehicle was occupied by a 19-year-old female driver and two passengers, a 19-year-old male, and an 18-year-old female, all of Kihei.

The driver and female passenger are being treated for critical injuries at Maui Memorial Medical Center. The male occupant was treated and released.

Police are investigating the involvement of speed, drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash.
