The county’s public works department is testing the functionality of a four-way stop at the Lono/Papa Avenue intersection in Kahului.  Upon completion of the eight-week pilot project, the department will forward a recommendation to the county council on whether to make the four-way stop permanent.

In south Maui, the public works department has also started construction on a $599,888 pavement project on Kenolio Road in Kihei.  Work spans from Kihei Villages to Ohukai Road and includes some one-lane closures during construction; local traffic will be allowed. file photo.

The project includes installing an asphalt concrete and asphalt treated base course pavement section, and installing pavement striping and markers. Work will be conducted Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is scheduled for completion by February 9, 2011.
