Honolulu Attorney Louie Appointed Attorney General

Governor Neil Abercrombie announced the appointment of David M. Louie as Attorney General for Hawaii. The 59-year-old trial lawyer is employed with the firm Roeca Louie & Hiraoka.

He has been practicing for the past 33 years in the areas of personal injury defense, construction defect litigation, and commercial litigation.  Louie has served as president, vice president and director of the Hawaii State Bar Association between 1995 and 2001.  He is currently the vice chair of the Hawaii Supreme Court Special Committee on Judicial Performance.

Louie attended Occidental College (A.B. 1973 cum laude) and Boalt Hall School of Law (University of California 1977).

Upon making the appointment, Governor Abercrombie said, “He is well versed in many areas of law and will be a tireless advocate for the interests of the people of Hawaii.  He is the kind of person we need on our team as we address the challenges facing our communities,” said Abercrombie.

Louie’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.  He rounds out the Abercrombie Cabinet list that also includes 15 directors.
