Chef Susan Teton will be teaching a cooking class Thursday, February 17th at Whole Foods Market in Kahului.

Starting at 6 p.m. and free to the public, the class will include a food demonstration and a chance to try new, fun and healthy recipes that nourish the body and soul. Past events include the Sweet Potato, Swiss Chard and Sesame Extravaganza, and Cultured Veggies workshops.

Chef Susan Teton works off the philosophy that food is a central sacred focal point in one’s life. Her dietary practice is called Essential Cuisine, which combines the best of raw, cooked and cultured foods. Inspiration is derived from diverse flavors and textures, highly functional super foods, alkaline foods, probiotic rich foods, artisan oils and a pro-health combination of organic whole foods.

Whole Foods Market, which began in 1980, is the world’s leader in natural and organic foods, running more than 300 stores in North America and the United Kingdom. The Maui store has been open since February 24th, 2010.
