The public is invited to attend this one-day seminar that is being conducted in all four Counties throughout Hawaii. The workshop is designed to show how APEC can be a catalyst to expanding Maui business into new international markets.

“Talking story” is a uniquely Hawaiian form of communication, and this seminar is about helping Maui businesses craft their message so they can share it effectively with the 21 APEC economies,” noted Jeanne Unemori Skog, President and CEO of MEDB. “The workshop will also shed valuable light on these economies to make it easier for our businesses to successfully extend their reach into some valuable markets.”

Representatives from Enterprise Honolulu and the MEDB will share more about the basics of how participants can connect with key partner opportunities in APEC member economies, identify and share the benefits of business alliances through key language empowerment training to engage potential customers and partners, and how to identify potential opportunities in different APEC member economies.

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, or APEC, is a 21-member association of economies from the Asia-Pacific region, and is comprised of 21 member economies, including Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Republic of the Philippines, The Russian Federation, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, The United States and Vietnam.

This workshop will be held on Thursday, September 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Maui Economic Development Board Offices, Malcolm Center located in the Maui Research and Technology Park in Kihei. Pre-event reservations are required to participate by calling the Maui Economic Development Board, Inc. at 875-2300.
