A 4 year old boy suffered life-threatening injuries when he was run over by a tractor this evening in Hoolehua on Molokai, authorities said.

The boy suffered trauma to his head and arm in the incident, according to Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

Firefighters and medics responded to the scene at 5:11 p.m. on a property near the airport loop road.

The patient was assisted first by crews from Engine 9, and then by Medic-8, and Maui’s Air Med-1 who flew the child to Queens Medical Center on Oahu for treatment.

While the Medevac unit was in route to Molokai the patient received life stabilizing treatment from the ground ambulance.

His care was continued by the flight crew during the 23 minute flight transport to Oahu.
