Images of the first transport of wind turbines and tower componets by First Winds to the Kaheawa wind farm above Maalaea are now available.

The transport route begins at the Kihei Tech Park and proceeded west on Pi‘ilani Highway; continuing west on North Kihei Road to Honoapi‘ilani Highway to the project site.

Deliveries will be made between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and are expected to continue until mid-March.

An over-sized truck and trailer transport system, as seen in this photo at the Kihei base yard, will carry wind turbines and tower components from Kihei Tech Park to Maalaea wind farm. Courtesy of Todd Vines.

Total transport time for each component is expected to be about 20 minutes and no extended road closures are anticipated.
