Neighbor island airports, including the Kahului and Kapalua Airports on Maui will implement a parking rate increase for monthly passes.

The rate will increase from $90 to $160, beginning on Thursday, March 1, 2012.

Officials with the State Department of Transportation say the monthly increase is proportionate to the daily and hourly rate increases that went into effect at airports statewide on May 1, 2011.

Similar increases to $160 will also be implemented at Lihue Airport on Kauai, and at the Hilo and Kona Airports on the Big Island.  The monthly rate at Honolulu International Airport increased to $240 in June.
