Lost Hiker Rescued From ‘Iao Valley

A Maui woman was rescued tonight (Saturday, March 17, 2012) after she wandered off a trail near ‘Iao Needle, and could not find her way back.

The 45-year-old Kihei woman used her cell phone to call for help at around 4:24 p.m.

Emergency crews located the woman and personnel from the Maui Fire Department’s Air-1 and Rescue-10 hauled her to safety.

A landing zone was set up in the parking lot where the woman was delivered at 5:20 p.m.

Authorities say no medical attention was required.
