A portion of the parking lot at the Kihei Community Center Complex will be blocked off  for several weeks as crews construct a photovoltaic project at the site.

County officials say the PV project is part of an effort to make Maui more efficient.

Construction will run from October 8 to December 12, 2012, and will utilize the mauka side of the upper parking lot.

Officials from the Department of Parks and Recreation say the area will be blocked off for construction, and no large buses will be allowed in the area.

Additional parking will be available on the multipurpose field below the pool.
