The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa is planning to turn their oceanfront parking lot into a 131-unit time-share project.

Today, the Pacific Business News reported that Host Hotels and Resorts chief executive officer, Ed Walters, told analysts on the company’s regular quarterly conference call today, that Host Hotels is negotiating with Hyatt Hotels Corp’s Hyatt Residential Group on a joint venture to develop, sell and operate the vacation ownership units.

USA Today also reported that Walters said that the development will include a 6,500-square-foot open-air lobby with direct ocean views, a pool with a capacity for 400 deck chairs, a 3,000-square-foot fitness center, an owners’ lounge, provisions market, casual dining options and a poolside bar.
