Deadline Today to Apply for YB Community Grants

Today is the deadline to apply for community grants through the gift giving program at Young Brothers, Limited and Hawaiian Tug & Barge.

The program awards grants of up to $2,500 per organization to non-profit community organizations selected from Maui County.

Since its inception, the program has contributed nearly $700,000 to 743 non-profit organizations throughout the state–$265,000 of that went to 245 organizations on Maui.

Applications are available at youngbrothershawaii.com, or by calling Hale Mahaolu at 872-4100.

Applications Rules include the following: Submissions must include one original application and three copies; No attachments will be accepted; One application per organization; A copy of the 501 (c) 3 must be attached; and Completed applications must be postmarked no later than Monday, November 19, 2012 to Hawaiian Tug & Barge/Young Brothers, Ltd., Maui County Community Advisory Board, Attn: Roy Katsuda, Hale Mahaolu, 200 Hina Avenue, Kahului, HI 96732.

Community organizations that meet the following criteria are invited to submit applications for consideration: IRS Approved under Section 501 (c) 3; Purpose of organization is related to Health, Education, Civic and Community Service, Youth Activities, Cultural Enrichment, Environment, or Special Community Projects.

The Maui County Community Advisory Board members are Roy Katsuda, Chairperson; Sandy Baz and Jo-Ann Ridao of Maui; and Alberta de Jetley of Lanai.

Young Brothers, Limited provides inter-island cargo service throughout the State of Hawai’i with ports in Honolulu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Nawiliwili, Hilo and Kawaihae. Hawaiian Tug & Barge provides contract towing service, ship assists, barge charters and related marine services throughout the Hawaiian Islands.
