Park workers closed Kilohana Park in Kihei on Friday, February 1, 2013, due to a fallen tree.

The 40-foot tree was discovered Friday morning, but is believed to have fallen overnight, county officials said.

Authorities said the fallen tree damaged a portion of the park’s fence.

County workers are in the process of removing the tree.  In the meantime the park is closed until further notice.
