The National Weather Service has issued a small craft advisory for Maui County windward waters as well as the Alenuihaha Channel from 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 11.

Forecasters say easterly trade winds will increase tonight over Maui County and Hawaiʻi Island waters, with winds accelerating along the windward coasts of Maui, Molokai and Hawaiʻi.

East winds are expected to be blowing at around 25 knots with bigger gusts, and seas of 8-12 feet are expected.

The conditions are expected to create hazardous conditions for small craft.  The NWS advises that inexperience mariners avoid navigating in such conditions.
