“Land & Sea” Wine Dinner Thursday

On Thursday evening, Makena Beach & Golf Resort hosts a wine dinner featuring the wines of Sonoma County’s Rodney Strong Vineyards and Davis Bynum Winery.

With a “From the Land & Sea” theme, Makena’s Winery of the Month Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. on the resort’s oceanfront Maluaka Lawn and will feature a five course dinner prepared by the resort’s new Chef De Cuisine of the Molokini Bar & Grille, Chef Kurt Lesmerises.

The five course wine dinner will feature a special rustic style menu with the organic produce of Kumu Farms and the best that the Pacific Ocean has to offer.

According to the resort, guests can expect to feast on pan seared diver scallops with a green pea risotto, glazed carrots and lemon beurre blanc alongside Rodney Strong Charlotte’s Sauvignon Blanc.


This will be followed by the official first course, a fried brie cheese salad with macadamia nut crusted brie, baby arugula, Kumu farms beets and fresh Kula strawberries drizzled with a lilikoi vinaigrette paired with Rodney Strong’s “Chalk Hill” Chardonnay.


It’s a salad kind of feast.

Watermelon, crab and goat cheese salad with sweet blue crabmeat and Laurel Chanel goat cheese follows along with a glass of Davis Bynum “Jane’s Vineyard” Pinot Noir.

A peppercorn crusted seared ahi tuna with Maui onions and Hamakua mushrooms is up next, accompanied by the Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon.


A surf and turf course featuring filet mignon and buttered crab with a yuzu aioli, sautéed Hamakua mushrooms, sweet soy and wasabi mashed potatoes rounds out the spread in conjunction with the Rockaway Single Vineyard from Rodney Strong.

In tandem with the “from the land” theme, the dessert course will end on a lighter note with fresh island fruits and Champagne Sabayon.

Makena Beach & Golf Resort’s “From the Land & Sea” wine dinner is offered at $100 per person.
