County officials have announced a fall schedule for restroom repairs at four park facilities 0n Maui.

The repair work will result in the closure of restrooms at respective locations, with portable toilets provided for public use during the repairs.

The schedule includes the following times and locations:

  • Kamaliʻi Park in Kahului, off of Aʻiaʻi Street, Oct. 14 to 24.
  • Polo Beach Park in Wailea, off of Mākena Road, Oct. 14 to Nov. 4.
  • Haʻikū Ball Fields, behind Haʻikū Park and Community Center off of Hāna Highway, Oct. 28 to Nov. 11.
  • Hoʻokipa Park in Kūʻau, off of Hāna Highway, Nov. 18 to Dec. 6.

Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa asked members of the community to be patient while the County works on improving the sanitation and disrepair of some of the more frequently used restrooms.

“Our parks are well-loved by our community, as hundreds of people frequent them on a daily basis,” said Mayor Arakawa in a press release statement.

“Unfortunately, this also means a high volume of people using our restrooms has led to worn-down facilities and sanitation issues. This renovation effort will address some long-awaited upgrades to our park restrooms and hopefully improve the park experience for all of our residents and visitors,” he said.

Restroom renovation work reportedly includes new plumbing fixtures, paint and finishes.
