Two sporting communities on Maui are joining forces in a unique “Ride to Survive” event this weekend to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer.
Hawaii’s big wave surfers will play polo in a first-of-its-kind exhibition game at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Kaʻonoʻulu Ranch on Olinda Road in Makawao.
The 1st annual event was organized as a fundraiser for the Hawaiʻi Children’s Cancer Foundation in partnership with the Maui Polo Club.
The event will be preceded by Jr. Polo at 11 a.m., and followed by the Abbie DeCoite memorial “ʻIlima Cup” polo match at 2 p.m., as well as an award ceremony and celebration featuring the Chala band and DJ Salvo.
Admission is $10, and pre-sale tickets are available at HiTech Surf Sports, Charley’s Restaurant & Saloon in Pāʻia, and Aloha Cowboy in Makawao.
