Customers in the Hāliʻimaile area of Maui will be out of water for about five hours on Thursday, as personnel with the Maui Department of Water Supply work to make waterline improvements for a future water storage tank.

Department officials announced the planned project saying work is scheduled to take place between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19.

Affected areas will include: Hāliʻimaile Road, Maikaʻi Street, Aoiki Street, Paihua Street, Nena Street, Paina Street, Alamuku Street, Nēnēleʻa Street, ʻOliʻoli Street, Maile Street, Hiʻilani Street, ʻEhoʻeho Street, Akaaka Street, Hoʻomālie Place, Mākōmakō Street, Leʻie Street, and Baldwin Avenue from the addresses of 2291 to 2399.

The Department of Water Supply advises that customers may want to flush their waterlines for a short time on Thursday afternoon to ensure that no sediment has accumulated in their waterlines from the project. Affected customers are also advised to store water for the day if needed.
