The county Department of Environmental Management has announced holiday-related schedule changes for residential refuse pickup in Hāna, on Molokaʻi and on Lānaʻi.

Officials with the Department’s Solid Waste Division say the changes are due to Christmas Day and New Year’s Day falling on Wednesdays this year.

Instead of the regularly scheduled trash pickup on Wednesday Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, the following changes will be implemented:

  • Hāna: Trash will be picked up a day earlier, on Tuesday, Dec. 24th and Tuesday, Dec. 31st, respectively.
  • Molokaʻi: Trash will be picked up the following Fridays, on Friday, Dec. 27th and Friday, Jan. 3rd, respectively.
  • Lānaʻi: Trash will be picked up a day later, on Thursday, Dec. 26th and Thursday, Jan. 2nd, respectively.

Department personnel apologized for the inconvenience.
