County officials say the parking lot at War Memorial Gymnasium has been reopened ahead of schedule, after the repaving of the lot was completed.

The closure went into effect on Friday, Feb. 21, and was slated for completion on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

The $210,371 contract was awarded to Maui Paving, LLC, and included cold-planing, asphalt paving, and re-striping.

During the work period, alternate parking was available at the War Memorial Football Stadium parking lot.

County officials also say trimming of dead tree branches along Hansen Road in Central Maui was completed a day ahead of schedule.

The work along Hansen Road between the Mokulele Highway and Pūlehu Road began on Thursday morning, March 20, and was slated for completion this afternoon, but finished early.

The overhanging tree branches were located along a heavily-traveled section of road, were are posing hazards to the area, according to information released by the County of Maui.
