State health director, Dr. Linda Rosen, visited the Maui Memorial Medical Center on Friday.

Rosen, along with state Senator Roz Baker of Maui are credited with their efforts in helping with the allocation of trauma system special funds for a new CT scanner for the hospital’s Radiology Department.

The new state-of-the-art scanner is designed to allow a faster and more accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients, hospital administrators said.

“We are grateful for Senator Baker, Dr. Rosen and the Maui delegation who continue to be supporters of our hospital,” said hospital chief executive officer, Wes Lo in a statement.

“Our Emergency Department alone sees over 10,000 trauma patients a year, most requiring CT scans for diagnosis. This additional scanner will help provide continuous service to all patients, and especially those that have sustained severe traumatic injuries.”

Hospital administrators say the new CT scanner is scheduled to be installed later this year.
