Artists from Japan and across Hawaiʻi crank up their chainsaws for an exhibition and competition of international ice sculpting at the Lahaina Cannery Mall this weekend.

The popular event returns to Maui for an exhibition on Saturday, and competition on Sunday in which artists have 90 minutes to transform blocks of ice into works of art.

The event is free and open to the public with ice art to be on display throughout the weekend.

The free-style ice-carving exhibition runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8.  Pride and prize money are on the line during the competition phase, scheduled to take place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014.
