The Surfrider Foundation on Maui and Honolua Surf Company celebrate surf culture and Honolua Bay during a surf movie night at Maui Preparatory Academy from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014.

Honolua Bay was recently purchased by the state in an effort to protect the area from development.  Community groups including the Save Honolua Coalition are working now to preserve the area through management efforts along of the stretch of shoreline.

Honolua Bay will also be the site of the upcoming Women’s World Championships from Nov. 22 to Dec. 6, 2014, hosted by the Association of Surfing Professionals.  As the last stop on the ASP World Tour, the event will feature defending champion Stephanie Gilmore, as well as Sally Fitzgibbons, and Tyler Wright.

The movie screening is free for Surfrider members and will feature the film “The Endless Summer.”  Non-member donations encouraged.
