Alerts 

A High Surf Advisory is in effect through 6:00 p.m. Sunday for the north facing shores of Maui and Moloka’i. Wave heights of 14 to 18 feet are expected. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for Maui County windward waters and the Kaiwi channel through 6:00 a.m. Sunday for rough seas of 7 to 11 feet. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

We expect scattered windward and mauka showers mainly in the morning and mostly sunny skies, especially in leeward areas. Northeast winds are forecasted to hover around 15 mph. High temperatures are forecasted to fall in the range of 77° to 82°.

Saturday night

Mostly cloudy skies are forecasted with scattered windward and mauka showers. Leeward spots are expected to get partly cloudy skies and isolated showers. Low temperatures from 68° to 73° degrees are expected. Northeast winds up to 15 mph are expected.

Sunday

We expect scattered passing showers and partly to mostly cloudy skies. Northeast winds are forecasted to hover around 15 mph. High temperatures are forecasted to fall in the range of 77° to 82°.

Looking Ahead

Trade winds are expected to return as a surface ridge builds north of the islands. The trades will continue into early next week, with low clouds and showers mainly over windward and mauka areas. Starting Tuesday, we expect an extended period of gusty westerly winds and wet weather to the state. These unsettled weather conditions may continue through the end of next week.
