Haleakalā National Park began accepting applications for guided astronomy and hiking tour permits on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015.

The permits, or Commercial Use Authorizations (CUAs), will be valid for up to two years. Applications must be received by the end of Tuesday, Mar. 10, 2015.

CUAs for up to four astronomy tours and six guided hiking tours may be issued, and applicants will be selected through a multi-step process. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of permits available, a competitive process will be used to make a final selection.

Details outlining the numbers and types of commercial tours appropriate within the park area can be found in the park’s Commercial Services Plan. Interested applicants can contact Fee and Commercial Services Program Specialist Greg Page at (808) 572-4440.
