Organizers are seeking original recipes made from locally grown and/or made ingredients for the 2015 Hawaiʻi Food Products Recipe Contest to be held during the Maui County Ag Festival on Saturday, April 4, at the Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapū.

Sponsored by the Maui Food Technology Center, the contest is open to Hawaiʻi residents 18 years of age or older. Entry forms must list the ingredients of the recipe and specify those that are from Hawaiʻi, along with a brief story about the recipe.

Six servings of the recipe entry must be delivered to the Grand Taste Education Tent at the festival on Saturday, April 4, between 9 and 10 a.m.

Each entry will be judged by taste, appearance, commercial viability, as well as their utilization of locally grown/made ingredients. Using more local ingredients will earn participants more points in the contest.

Winning entries will receive assistance from MFTC to help them take their recipe to the store front.  The first place winner will receive a consultation service valued at $1,500; second place, services valued at $500; and third place, services valued at $250.
