The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Services is asking older adults and caregivers to complete two online surveys to aid future funding decisions at the county, state and federal levels for the Maui County Office on Aging’s four-year plan.

The surveys are available online. Hardcopies are available at the Maui County Office on Aging by calling (808) 270-7349 or (808) 270-7755. Completed surveys will be accepted through April 11, and all respondees will remain anonymous.

Two main groups being targeting in the surveys are:

1. individual adults, ages 55 or older living in Maui County;

2. caregivers who are assisting another individual with personal needs and/or errands. This includes unpaid caregivers for adults 60 years or older; unpaid caregivers for individuals 18 and older with a disability; or guardians of a younger person (grandparent/relative, hanai or other arrangement).

The survey results will be reported in the MCOA’s four year plan later this year, which will describe how the office plans to achieve its goals and activities with the funding it receives. The plan is shaped by demographics, community needs as determined through surveys and focus groups, and growing trends within the Maui County area.

For questions about the surveys, the area plan or the Office on Aging, call (808) 270-7349.
