AAA Weekend Gas Watch reported that the state’s gas price averages declined in some areas during the past week.

The current Hawaiʻi average for a gallon of regular is $3.08, a penny lower than last week, six cents less than last month and $1.24 a gallon less than a year ago.

Wailuku’s average is $3.23, a penny less than last week, two cents higher than last month and $1.19 lower than a year ago on this date.

Honolulu’s average gas price is $2.94, three cents lower than last week, 12 cents less than last month and $1.33 a gallon less than a year ago.

Hilo’s average gas price is $3.09 per gallon, unchanged from last week, one cent less than last month and $1.12 lower than this time a year ago.

“Around the country, average gas prices continue to drop,” said AAA Hawaiʻi General Manager Liane Sumida. “California remains the only other state with a gas price average higher than $3, with an average price of $3.13. Other states are in the $2-a-gallon range, like Alaska at $2.96, Nevada at $2.77 and Washington at $2.72.”

Motorists can keep updated on gas prices around the country online or by using the AAA mobile app.
