Kīhei Library Closed for AC Replacement Project
By Maui Now Staff
The Kīhei Public Library, located at 35 Waimahaihai Street in South Maui, is temporarily closed for a pre-scheduled Air Conditioner Replacement Project.
The closure went into effect on Sunday, May 10, and the facility will reopen at a later date to be determined.
In the meantime, the drive-through book drop will be closed; but the book drop near the front door will remain open for the duration of the project. During the closure patrons are invited to use public library facilities in Wailuku, Kahului, Lahiana, or Makawao.
Patrons needing assistance may contact other libraries on island, or log on to the HSPLS website at www.librarieshawaii.org to do the following:
- Renew books and most library materials online for an additional three weeks if there are no reserves on the items. Only one renewal per item is allowed. Items that are not eligible for online renewal are Hot Picks, DVDs, videotapes, and overdue materials. Renewals will not be allowed if the item has been requested by someone else. Note: Patrons can also renew by telephone or by bringing the items to any of our public libraries for an additional three-week loan period if the items have not been previously renewed.
- Browse the HSPLS Catalog for book titles, eBooks, digital audio books, and our wide variety of online databases which provide access to full-text materials from thousands of magazines, newspapers, journals, and other publications.
- Check out the netbook computer loan program, HSPLS App, E-Resources such as HI Tech Academy, Mango Languages and Zinio for Libraries (eMagazines).
- Get answers to brief informational reference questions by using the “Ask-A-Librarian” E-Reference service: select the “Information” tab, click on “E-Reference” and follow the instructions. A library card is not required to use this service.
