The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, has announced yet another landfill partial closure due to insufficient staffing.

The Molokaʻi Landfill will close at 1 p.m. today (Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015) through Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015.

County officials say the closures are necessary for the department to ensure safe operations and meet the minimum State Department of Health operating requirements of the County’s solid waste permit.

The Mayor’s office notes that with a soon-to-be filled Equipment Operator position approved by Council, the landfill closures are expected to be reduced.
