Seed to Cup Festival 2015.

The Maui Coffee Association will present their 8th Annual Seed to Cup Coffee Festival, Aug. 15, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Maui Tropical Plantation in Wailuku.  This event is free and open to the public.

Coffee Brewing and Coffee Roasting will be demonstrated throughout the day. Free tastings of Maui’s Award-winning coffee will be available for sampling and for sale.

The Mill House Chef Jeff Scheer will have coffee inspired and infused food for sale, including coffee braised beef tacos and coffee braised eggplant. Quesadillas will be available for the kids.

Coffee beer made by Maui Brewing Company made with 100% Maui Coffee will be available as well.

There will be displays and demonstrations of coffee processing equipment provided by Captain Cook Trading Company from the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.

Coffee pulping and hulling demonstrations begin at 10 a.m. and will run throughout the day.

Methods and techniques that can be used by the backyard coffee grower will be displayed and demonstrated throughout the day and sample tastings of coffee grown on Maui will be available as well.

Barista art and brewing methods will be on display throughout the day.

Festivities begin at 9 a.m. followed by a Hawaiian blessing at 10 a.m. and entertainment beginning at 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Featured entertainment includes: Paula Fuga; Zenshin Daiko Drummers; Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winners Slack Key Master Kevin Brown & ʻOhana; Nā Hōkū winner Slack Key & Ukulele master Jazz Guitarist Benny Uyetake Jazz & Blues Phil Smith on Sax; Kalama School Select Ukulele Players; Andrew & Jay Molina Ukulele father & Son Duo; Max Angel – Ukulele wizard; House Shakers – Jazz Blues Funk & Rock with Paul, Lenny and Kenny.

Did you know: In the 2014 Hawaiʻi Statewide Cupping Competition, Maui placed three coffees in the overall Top Ten and six coffees in the overall Top Twenty.  Maui entries had the highest average score of any of the eight Hawaiian Coffee Districts. The public is invited to come see what all the buzz is about.

This will be a fun educational day for anyone interested in coffee. Come learn what goes into a carefully crafted cup of 100% Maui coffee.

Admission is free and open to the public.
