A 70-year-old man was pulled from the waters at Polo Beach in Wailea after he was found unresponsive in the ocean by beach goers over the weekend.

Maui police have since identified the man as Larry McMurry of Gardnerville, Nevada.

The incident was reported at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2015.

Maui Fire officials say that upon arrival, firefighters found nearby resort staff on the beach performing CPR on the male victim.

Firefighters and paramedics continued life-saving efforts; however, authorities say the victim died at the scene.
