Tickets to see ‘ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro will go on sale to Maui Arts & Cultural Center members on Friday, Oct. 9*, and to the general public on Friday, Oct. 23*.

The MACC’s Ho‘onanea Series will present Shimabukuro and special guests from the Maui Songwriters’ Festival on Friday, Dec. 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Castle Theater.

Renowned for his super-fast and complex finger work, Shimabukuro has redefined the meaning of music that comes from that instrument.

There is no doubt that Shimabukuro embodies the heart and soul of ‘ukulele music. No one else can wring the emotion, beauty, meaning and thrills out of four strings like he can.

Although all the Hawaiian standards are part of his repetoire, he is also constantly expanding his range to combine elements of jazz, blues, funk, rock, bluegrass, classical, folk and flamenco.
