The University of Hawai‘i Maui College invites students, staff, faculty and the Maui community to join a celebration of international education and exchange on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room in the campus’ Pilina Building.

The celebration will feature cultural dances, singing, music, activities and world games from Cameroon, the Celtic countries, China, India, Japan, Korea, Philippines, US, Venezuela and other nations and regions, by UHMC’s students, staff and faculty, and community members.

From 5 to 8 p.m., the celebration will continue with Open Mic performances.

Admission is free and free refreshments will be served.

The International Education Day celebration is part of a series of events in observance of International Education Week—Nov. 16 through 20—as declared by the US Departments of State and Education.

“Opportunities abound in higher education which enhance the understanding of other cultures and nations and contribute constructively toward a better future throughout the world through curricula, faculty exchange, study abroad and the presence of international students/scholars on our campus,” said UHMC Chancellor Dr. Lui Hokoana. “We are fully committed to move forward with international education at UHMC.”

“This is the third year we have held International Day on campus” said Liping Liu, Ph.D., faculty advisor for The International Club of Maui. “This year, we are delighted to partner with our Institute of Hawaiian Music and the Music Club to extend the program until the evening Open Mic, so to showcase all talents from the campus and the community.”
