House Finance Committee Visits Lānaʻi

Members of the House Finance Committee visited the island of Lānaʻi to gain first hand insight into the status of ongoing projects and other needs of the district.

The visit focused on schools, kupuna care and economic development with site visits to Lānaʻi High and Elementary School, Lānaʻi Community Health Center, Lānaʻi Community Hospital, and Mānele Small Boat Harbor.

The committee also held a discussion with members of the community at the Lānaʻi Senior Center to learn about some of the issues and matters important to the district. Notable topics raised included the need for more kupuna services, affordable rentals, and affordable housing.

The House Finance Committee is chaired by Representative Sylvia Luke, and Lānaʻi Representative Lynn DeCoite (Molokaʻi, East Maui, Lānaʻi) is a member.

The information gathered will be used as the committee assesses projects and programs supported by the legislature.
