What’s in a Name? Is it Molokai OR Molokaʻi?

How one should pronounce the name of the Friendly Isle can be a subject of heated debate. At the very least, there is some confusion as to whether it should be pronounced “Molokai” or “Molokaʻi” (with or without the ʻokina or glottal stop).
Maui Now’s Malika Dudley went to the source to see if she could find some answers. She interviewed Anakala Pilipio Solatorio whose family has been living in Halawa Valley for 50 generations. See the video above for the full interview. The letter he references in the video is displayed below.
