Rescue Crews Respond to Capsized Boat at Keawakapu

Maui fire and ocean safety personnel are responding to a report of a capsized boat on the south side of Keawakapu Beach near the Mana Kai resort in South Maui.
The incident was reported at around 1:25 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016.
Initial reports indicate that four individuals were on board and were reportedly hanging on to the 18-foot boat while emergency personnel responded.
The boat was about 300 yards off shore when the incident occurred. Prior to capsizing the boat reportedly experienced a broken mast.
