Maui Theatre Hosts 808 Lip Sync Battle

The Maui Theatre has two successful shows that run regularly. Burn’N Love and Ulalena performers hit the stage several times a week to entertain crowds of tourists and kama’aina alike. This weekend they are trying something new and premiering their 1st annual “808 Lip Sync Battle”.

Saturday, February 27, 2016
7pm – 7:30pm – Contestant Check In
7pm – 11pm:  808 Lip Sync Battle
Based on hit Spike series “Lip Sync Battle” – pure fun and entertainment! No experience required – anyone can lip sync!
 
Over $1,000 in prizes for contestants and audience!
Celebrity judges – Marty Dread, Malika Dudley, Shaggy!
Concession snacks and drinks, plus full bar available all night.
 
$20 General Admission (21+ includes drink ticket that is also raffle ticket for prize drawings all night long!)
$10 – Solo Entry
$25 – Group Entry (5 ppl max per group)
 

Judges will be looking for synchronicity, creativity, accuracy, energy, and team participation. Awards and points will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams overall, as well as to the 1st place teams in the Best Choreography, Best Costume, & Most Creative categories. Contestants will be judged on:

• LIP SYNC ABILITY: Synchronicity, creativity, accuracy, energy, and team participation, Lip Sync in tempo, with correct emotion and breathing.

• STAGE PRESENCE: Ability to sell the song and connect with the audience – deliver true emotion of performance.

• INTERPRETATION: Do you look and or dance like the star? Or did you make the song unique to your style?

Performances are encouraged to have a unique and creative theme including costumes and props, but a theme is not required.

The theatre will also be hosting Steppenwolf and Pegasus as a part of “The Born To Be Wild Tour” coming up on Saturday, April 16. Visit the Maui Theatre website for more information and to get tickets.
