Habitat for Humanity Maui has been selected as the upcoming beneficiary of the ‘Ohana Fuels ‘Fuel Up. Do Good’ program, with funding to support the construction and renovation of affordable housing for residents on Lānaʻi and Maui.

‘Ohana Fuels partners with nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the local community, and donates a portion of every gallon of gasoline and diesel purchased at all ‘Ohana Fuels stations in that community as part of the program..

During the months of April thru June 2016 a portion of all sales at all Maui ‘Ohana Fuels locations will be donated to Habitat Maui.

“We all know that affordable housing is in such demand here on Maui and on Lānaʻi”, said Sherri K. Dodson, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Maui. “And we are thrilled that ‘Ohana Fuels recognizes this need and is willing to help Habitat build and renovate homes for deserving low income families.”

Habitat for Humanity Maui builds and renovates housing for low income families. They issue a 0% interest loan to the family but all the labor for projects is done by volunteers. Organization leaders say this allows them to provide affordable housing and repairs to the neediest of families.

The beneficiary families must also put in “sweat equity” into the building of their home. Habitat leaders say, “This allows the community to work alongside our partner families,” and, “creates a sense of community,” where partner families can learn valuable skills as they learn every aspect of building.
