Haycraft Park in Māʻalaea will be closed while crews work to remove a large honeybee colony housed within a State Civil Defense emergency siren.

Haycraft Park is located at 399 Hauʻoli Street in Māʻalaea. The bee colony removal at the park is scheduled to take place all day on Thursday, June 2, 2016.

Maui County Civil Defense and park rangers will assist with notifying neighboring condominiums and other nearby residents. Salvation Army representatives will assist with getting the word out to homeless residents in the area.

The public is advised to stay away from the park until the bee colony can be safely removed.
