The Story Behind Molokai’s Kapuāiwa Coconut Grove
Planted in the 1860s, it is said that the grove was once 10 acres in area and contained a thousand trees, but it is now greatly reduced in size. Billy Akutagawa, director of Na Pu’uwai talks about the history of the grove, why the trees are dying and what is being done to preserve it.
