Carden Academy of Maui is proud to announce the completion of its new pavilion, which was officially blessed on Friday, August 19

Carden Academy of Maui is proud to announce the completion of its new pavilion, which was officially blessed on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016.

A blessing ceremony was held for a new pavilion at the Carden Academy of Maui campus in Pukalani on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016.

The pavilion is the first major construction project for the school since purchasing the campus five years ago.

School administrators also announced that over the summer, they received a seven year accreditation term from HAIS and WASC, the joint accreditation organizations for Hawaiʻi and the West Coast.

“Our new pavilion is a beautiful addition to our campus,” said Nina Sato, School Director.

“Both students and staff have been excited to use the pavilion in this first week of school as an outdoor class and lunch area. I look forward to seeing the many ways our community will use the pavilion in the years to come. We were also honored with the results of our recent accreditation. Being recognized with this level of accreditation is a true testament to how far this young school has come and our clear direction for its future,” said Sato.

The pavilion will be used as a safe pick up and drop off location for the students, shaded outdoor lunch and snack area, PE facility in inclement weather, a welcoming area to campus, and many other uses.

The pavilion was constructed by Artistic Builders, and school administrators say it was completed on schedule and on budget during the summer break.

All the walkways on campus were also paved over the break to create a safer and more accessible campus. These projects were built with funds raised at the annual Carden Jamboree and through grants and private donations.

The Carden Academy Board of Directors were part of the ceremony to officially open the pavilion, which was held during the annual Carden Parent Teacher ʻOhana potluck dinner, with the Carden families sharing in the blessing.
