The Kula Community Association will hold its quarterly community meeting this Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Kula Community Center at 7 p.m. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. refreshments will be available.

The meeting includes commentary from three speakers: Water Director, Dave Taylor; Invasive Seed Management Specialist Dr. James Leary with the Maui Agriculture Research Center; and Skyline Eco-Adventures General Manager Erik McLellan.

Taylor will give the Upcountry community an update on important water issues including: the new rules on residential water-fixture counts; the status of the proposed Maui Island Water Use and Development Plan; and the ongoing efforts to issue Upcountry water meters.

Leary will discuss the very invasive Glycine plant and what is or is not being done to fight it. He will then hear from audience members regarding other invasive species issues which they are most worried about.

McLellan will cover his company’s history and operations (off of Crater Road), its community involvement in an upcoming Zip for Trees event, and its application for a Haleakalā National Park commercial permit.

All Maui residents are welcome to attend.  KCA membership is not required to attend meetings, but is encouraged.
