Q: When are the absentee ballots going to be mailed in Maui? I checked the county website and didn’t see a date.
I need to go to the Mainland, but want to vote, so I am postponing leaving. A friend of mine is in the same position. A lot of people on Maui need to occasionally fly to the Mainland or elsewhere. It is much cheaper to make plane reservations if you make them a couple of weeks before departure.
A: Ballots are typically mailed out 20 days prior to the election, which for this General Election would be Oct. 19.
To ensure your ballot was received after you mail it, you can call the county elections division at 270-7749. Our County Clerk’s Office, elections division, carries out the State function of managing elections here in Maui County, thus information for voters is available on the State elections
