Maui Humane Society today announced the opening of its newly expanded Veterinary and Spay/Neuter clinic which was funded by a generous grant from PetSmart Charities.

This $260,000 grant has allowed the Maui Humane Society to expand the current veterinary clinic by more than 700 square feet and will increase the surgical capacity of the existing spay/neuter clinic to approximately 6,000 surgeries annually.

This expansion will further advocate the Maui Humane Society’s ongoing efforts to reduce the animal homeless population, and to save as many animal lives as possible.

“We are very thankful that PetSmart Charities not only believes in the work we’re doing, but is willing to help fund it, therefore making an investment to decrease the number of homeless animals on Maui,” said Jerleen Bryant, CEO Maui Humane Society.

“Over the years, Maui Humane Society has worked diligently to reduce the homeless pet population in the community through targeted spay and neuter efforts,” said David Haworth, DVM, Ph.D., President of PetSmart Charities. “With this grant, we are thrilled to support their mission to proactively prevent unplanned litters and look forward to seeing the results of their lifesaving work.”
