Police have placed damage estimates at approximately $2,100 from two recent burglary incidents on the grounds of St. Anthony Church in Wailuku.

During the most recent incident over the Easter weekend (between Sunday, April 21 and Monday, April 22), the church chapel room was ransacked.  Police say approximately $1,000 in damage occurred with religious items broken and vandalized.

In a prior incident reported between March 25 and 26, 2019, police say a church residence was broken into, and property was rummaged through.  Two church statues were also broken outside the residence causing approximately $1,100 in damages.  Maintenance workers have since repaired the broken statues.

The Maui Police Department is requesting the public’s help in providing any information leading to the apprehension of those responsible. Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to contact Detective Derrick Delos Santos at (808) 244-6437.
