Mahi Pono, LLC, today announced the hire of Tim O’Laughlin as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. The newly created position will be based on Maui.

As COO, O’Laughlin joins Mahi Pono’s leadership team on Maui which includes, Shan Tsutsui, executive vice president of operations; Grant Nakama, operations manager; and Darren Strand, manager of farming operations.

In his role, O’Laughlin’s responsibilities will include ownership and investor relations, management operations, business oversight and legal matters.

O’Laughlin officially started in his position on Oct. 1, 2019.

“I look forward to joining the Mahi Pono management team, and I’m relying heavily on our local team, especially Shan as he continues to serve as Mahi Pono’s liaison with the community and will continue overseeing government relations, business strategy, management operations, communications, and sales and distribution. This is the natural evolution of Mahi Pono as we have grown from 23 employees in March with no planted acreage to projected plantings of more than 4,000 acres of food crops and 200 employees in 2020,” said O’Laughlin.
