The Mākena Golf & Beach Club partners again with community-based non-profit organization Ala Kukui, announcing the second date in their free Noenoe Nights at Mākena workshop series – Noenoe x Nāulu.

The upcoming event once again honors wāhine (women) who create the feeling of family, of being ‘ohana (family). It also celebrates the season with holiday wreath-making led by Ipo Kanaka‘ole.

The workshop will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the club’s Mākena Vista event lawn.

“Like the ‘ohā growing from the older kalo root and stalk, women in Maui’s community continue to provide regenerative space for tender offshoots to bloom and flower. We invite you to nominate a woman in your life who has received you like ‘ohana, extending a nourishing space of life-giving aloha like the light misty Noenoe rain of Hana and the Nāulu of Mākena,” said Leahi Hall, Community Relations Manager at the Mākena Golf & Beach Club.

Interested attendees can enter the Noenoe Nights at Mākena ‘Ohana Drawing to win a spot at this event for themselves and a deserving female they consider family. Each entry must nominate one female by sharing a story of how she has connected them to the feeling of family. The submission window closes at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019. The winners will be chosen at random from the submissions and all who complete nominations will be notified Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019.

“We believe that we are reflections of our environment, so it is only natural that we get our creative inspiration from our surroundings. We find meaning and joy in sharing that inspiration with other wahine and are excited to be able to widen our reach with those who reflect this sentiment in their own families and communities,” said Kau’i Kanaka’ole, Executive Director of Ala Kukui.
