The islands of Lānaʻi and Kahoʻolawe are under a wind advisory from 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2020.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say northeast winds are expected to be in the 25 to 35 mph range with 55 mph gusts.

The highest summits of Hawaiʻi Island will see northeast winds 45 to 55 mph with gusts to around 60 mph.

The NWS says winds this strong could bring down tree branches and cause localized power outages.

Motorists, especially those in high profile vehicles, are urged to drive with caution.
